Over the years Mears Boat Builders have undertaken repairs and restoration on many types of vessel including wood, GRP, ferrocement, steel and aluminium. We have undertaken many re-engining jobs with different makes of engine including Beta Marine, Nanni, Lister, Sole, Perkins, Ford, Gardner and Vetus to name but a few. Customers have ranged from commercial fishermen, pleasure boaters, RNLI, yacht clubs, sailing clubs and the Royal Navy.
Since 1945 the breadth of jobs has included putting a door in the transom of a fishing boat for a self shooting potting arrangement, putting a creel shooting door at midships in a fishing boat, a new transom hung dive lift platform, complete rebuilds of front ends where fire damage has occurred, re-bedding bilge keel bolts on yachts, converting a cruiser stern clinker boat to a transom stern, shortening boats, new cabins in solid wood or GRP, fitting new aft wheelhouses, manufacture and fitting of GRP and aluminium flush deck hatches to commercial fishing boats, polyester, vinylester and epoxy work, new composite foam core decks and complete replanking of old boats.
